THE DESIGN

Inspired by the vintage 1960s style of earrings. The period of the 1960s was one of particular revival in Greece, in particular for arts and cinema.

In particular the 1950s and 1960s are considered still to be the "Golden Age" of Greek cinema. The period saw a number of Greek films excel abroad including the film Stella, directed by Michael Cacoyannis, and starring Melina Mercouri, premiered in the Cannes Film Festival. Following this there were a number of notable productions, including the film Never on Sunday, starring Mercouri and American director Jules Dassin. The film was nominated for several Academy Awards, including Best Actress and won the Best Song for Manos Hatzidaki's songs. In 1964 Cacoyannis produced the film Zorba the Greek, based on the book of Nikos Kazantzakis, and which starred Anthony Quinn, and which was nominated for three Academy Awards.

We were inspired by this, and wanted to add a modern twist to the 60's designs, no pun intended. Each side is different, with the large hoop being on top on the one side, and the small hoop being on the top on the other.
