About

Craftsmanship

Heritage Reimagined

YSSO is a jewellery project born between Athens and London. Rooted in Greek craft and storytelling, we create expressive, sculptural pieces with a focus on quality and form.

Produced in a family-run workshop of 7 workmen and women, our pieces are meticulously sculpted by hand using ancient Greek jewellery-making techniques. All of our pieces are made with up to 35% recycled metals and fully recycled gold, crafted in solid bronze and double-plated with 24 and 18 karat gold for durability.

The core of our mission is championing and preserving Greece's cultural heritage of jewellery making.

Owned Techniques

Crafted to resemble traditional Greek fabric, our textile-inspired designs are curled and shaped to create patterned surfaces, evoking a kind of ‘gold thread’ intertwined with hand-sculpted embroidery.

Hand Woven Chains

In Ancient Greece, especially during the Hellenistic period, chain weaving was used extensively in jewellery making, known as the loop-in-loop chain making technique. It begins with fine metal wire that is coiled, cut into individual rings, and each ring is then fused or soldered closed. These closed loops are subsequently threaded through one another, “loop through loop”, to form a continuous chain.

This method creates a structure that is both flexible and strong, allowing the chain to move fluidly while maintaining durability. The result is a refined, handcrafted chain with a distinctly smooth and supple appearance that reflects expert workmanship and historical craftsmanship.
