Exclusive Collection: One&Only Kéa Island
This exclusive collection, designed by YSSO, celebrates the opening of One&Only Kéa Island, in Greece.
This bespoke collaboration is inspired by nature and nautical tradition. It features rope motifs and acorns, symbolising fertility, renewal and new beginnings, as well a 'tetra' design found on ancient coins to represent the island’s four city-states of Ioulida, Korissos, Karthaia and Piiess.
Velanidi βελανίδι– The island's abundance of oak trees, make acorns an extremely significant feature in the history & mythology of the island. They were believed to have possessed magical properties that symbolised prosperity and fertility and were used as an offering to the gods as well as a means of predicting the future.
Tetras Tετράς –The “tetras” is an Ancient Greek coin originating from Kéa featuring four triangles on its face. The triangles represent the four seasons, symbolising the cyclical nature of life and the interconnectedness of all things. The coin is attributed to the goddess Athena, who according to legend, once visited the island and instructed the locals to mint these coins as a tribute to her. Today, the coins are highly prized and are a testament to Kéa’s rich cultural heritage.
