THE DESIGN STORY

Many are familiar with the saying, “don’t fly too close to the sun.” Our Fall of Icarus earrings take inspiration from the Greek myth from which it originates. Icarus and his father, Daedalus, escape imprisonment using wings made of feathers and beeswax. In his arrogance, Icarus soars near the sun, and falls to his death. Our earrings are hand-carved to resemble the man-made wings and to reflect the golden glow of the sun.

Artfully made in Greece by hand for lightweight feel. Designed with a post-back.

 

Our Ethos

Produced in a family run workshop of 7 workmen and women, our pieces are exclusively carved and crafted by hand in Athens, using Ancient Greek jewellery-making techniques and silversmithing.

As champions of slow production, we create only small quantities per design. If a piece is sold out you are welcome to place a pre-order, which has a three week turnaround period, for a piece to be made exclusively for you.

Unique designs that are not part of our core collection of YSSO Icons, will no longer be available once they sell out.
