The design is inspired from the discus (in plural in Greek "disci") which refer to the discs thrown as a sport during the Olympic games. This game is one of the original Olympic games during the original Olympic games of Ancient Greece. A lot of artwork has been inspired by the Olympic games and sculptors, poets, painters and other artisans would come to the games to display their works in what became an artistic competition.
Sculptors created works like Myron's Diskobolos or Discus Thrower. Their aim was to highlight natural human movement and the shape of muscles and the body.
