THE DESIGN

Cordella is a ribbon, fillet, or a headband, and was originally worn in classical antiquity, especially in cultures of the Mediterranean, Levant and Persia, including Hellenic culture.

At that time, a fillet was a very narrow band of cloth, leather or some form of garland, frequently worn by athletes. The gods also bound their heads with cloth headbands. It was also a sign of royalty and in later times became in later ages as a metallic ring which was a stylised band of cloth.

Furthermore, there is numerous cult images, trees, urns, monuments, animal sacrifices which had ribbons bound around them. This tradition was also later adopted by the Romans.
